This is an online study where you will be asked to read a scenario of a sexual assault event and answer some questions about your perceptions. If you are uncomfortable reading about sexual assault please do not participate in this study.
The purpose of the study is to learn about perceptions on sexual assault. We are students attending a university and we are inviting you to participate in our research study under the supervision of our faculty supervisor. Participation in this research study is completely voluntary.
The research study will take 5-10 minutes of your time. All responses will remain anonymous, which means that personal identifiable information will not be collected.
You do not have to answer questions that make you feel uncomfortable, and you may also end your participation in this study at any time without repercussions. You will also be given the option to withdraw your responses at the end of the study.
You will not receive any direct benefits however, the benefits of the study more broadly will include a better understanding the intersections of race and emotion on perpetrators of sexual assault.
We do not anticipate that there will be any lasting effects because of your participation in this study. You may, however, read some statements or questions that could make you uncomfortable. In addition, some people may be susceptible to becoming distressed by sensitive topics such as aggression and sexual assault. If you are distressed by descriptions of sexual assault please do not participate in this study. Do remember, you do not have to answer any questions you do not want to, and you can end participation at any time. However, if you wish to have your data withdrawn from the study you will need to advance to the final page where you will be given an opportunity to withdraw your data.
